Learn Korean: Verb + 더라

Let’s take a look at the Korean sentence pattern Verb + 더라. We use this to express what we have noticed or felt about someone or something after our first-hand experience. For example, I got the chance to meet my friend’s sister for the first time. I had no idea how she looks like, but I figured that she is really pretty. That’s what I felt that time. Now, I recalled it and told someone about her. I said Jinho’s sister is really pretty. The main verb is 예쁘다 (to be pretty). We take the verb stem and attach 더라. The actual sentence is 진호 누나가 예쁘더라. The nuance is I met her in person and I thought she was really pretty.
