Learn Korean: 다 + Verb

Let's take a look at the Korean sentence pattern + Verb. One thing to take note when using this pattern is that the verb should always be in its past tense form. And it makes sense because  refers to complete actions, and when you say complete actions, they are done completely. It comes before verbs, but in the case of separable 하다 verbs like 공부하다, 요리하다, and 숙제하다, it is more natural to place  before 하다 thereby splitting the noun and verb into two.

 왔어.

I am here (finally).

 했어.

I am done (with it completely).

 먹었어.

I am done eating (all of it).

 잤어.

I am done sleeping (now fully awake).

 읽었어.

I have read it all completely. I am done reading.
