Learn Korean: Verb + 처럼
Let's take a look at the Korean sentence pattern Verb + 처럼. It is very easy to use 처럼 with nouns as it is simply attached to them without a space. We can think of it as the preposition like in English as in like a girl, like a bird, etc. As for verbs, we need a little conjugation. We need to attach –는 것 to the verb stem to nominalise the verb- meaning to change it into a noun first. The phrase can be translated into as if + subject + verb. Here are some examples.
거기서 10년 산 것처럼 얘기해줬어요.
He shared his stories as if he lived there for ten years.
혼자 있는 것처럼 춤 추네.
Look at her, she is dancing as if she is alone.
여기에 아무도 없는 것처럼 앞에서 말을 해봐.
Try to speak in front as if nobody is here.
