Learn Korean: Noun + 께/께서

Let's take a look at the Korean sentence pattern Noun + 께/께서. –께 and –께서 are particles your grandparents, teachers, and bosses would love to hear when you address them or talk about them because they signify respect and politeness. They are attached nouns in place of 에게/한테 or 이/가. Take note that these particles should go in congruent with the honorific forms of some nouns and verbs. For example, instead of 집 (house), you use 댁. Instead of  주다 (give), you use 드리다. Not all nouns have honorific forms but verbs in general take the additional syllable 시.

어른들께 말씀하셨어요.

I have talked to the elders.

어머니께 선물을 드렸어.

I gave a gift to my mom.

선생님께 여쭈어봐요.

You ask teacher.
