Learn Korean: 혹시라도 + Verb

Let's take a look at the Korean sentence pattern 혹시라도 + Verb. We often hear 혹시 used at the start of a question as in 혹시 남하진이란  아세요?  (Do you know someone named Nam Ha Jin). It makes your question polite and unassuming. When combined with 라도 (which doesn't have a definite meaning), it carries the nuance just in case. The verb that follows take the if-verb ending -(). It is often used to make a request that somehow benefits the speaker.

혹시라도  남자친구 만나면 그런  하지마.

Just in case you meet my boyfriend, dont do that again.

혹시라도 우리 집에   생기면  모르는 척해.

Just in case you get to come to our house, pretend you dont know me.

혹시라도  가방 찾으면 나한테만 돌려줘.

Just in case you find my bag, just returned it to me, not somebody else.
